CHELSEA have reportedly been given a squad boost by Christian Pulisic who has returned to training after a hamstring injury scare.
Pulisic, 21, should be back in action soon but will miss the Blue’s Champions League tie against Rennes tomorrow, according to The Athletic journalist Simon Johnson.
He tweeted: “Lampard says Pulisic has had very minor injury to hamstring – is already back out training for #CFC. Won’t face Rennes though.”
It was originally thought that Pulisic would be out for a few weeks when he pulled his hamstring before his side’s 3-0 win over Burnley on the weekend.
He was due to start the game, but was replaced by Timo Werner in the team when the injury was discovered during the pre-match warm-up.
Speaking on the injury, Lampard said: “It’s a minor feeling that he had but definitely not right to go into 90 minutes of a game with that.
Hopefully it’s short term, we’re talking weeks.”
The Blues face a gruelling schedule over the next few months so his return will be welcomed at Stamford Bridge.
In the run-up to Christmas they face Tottenham, Leeds, Everton and Arsenal.
In their game against Rennes tomorrow,Lampard has had to shift around his midfield to fill the void left by Pulisic.
Instead, Werner has shifted out wide, Tammy Abraham down the middle and Hakim Ziyech on the right.
Midfield trio Kai Havertz, N’golo kante and Mason Mount could start again after their stellar performance in the Burnley game.
