David Silva has entered into a new football contract with Real Sociedad instead of Lazio who had been assured of the move before things swayed.
Lazio had already offered Silva a contract which he agreed to personal terms and they were confident he will sign a deal worth €4million a year. The Serie A side planned to make the announcement of his transfer this week but were left disappointed when Real Sociedad made a statement that Silva had signed for the Spanish side.
David Silva is expected to make a statement as regards the change of mind to move to Spain instead of Italy.
Silva played professionally for Spain at international levels before retiring in 2018 and was celebrated as one of the best midfielders. Could nationality ties be the reason for the sudden change to sign for Sociedad or perhaps a better offer was the motivation for David?
He started his career at Valencia and later signed for the big spenders Manchester City on 30th June 2010. Robert Mancini the manager in charge of City then compared him to be in the same class as Ronaldo and Messi when he was signed ten years ago.
David spent a decade at Manchester City through the tenure of three different manager during that time. Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola where in that order the coaches that helped David to refine his qualities playing as a winger and central midfielder.
The Spaniard played 390 games for City with 60 goals tally and 90 assists attached to his profile in all competitions. This feat and his contribution during the Premier League campaign in 2018 that saw Manchester City finish with a classic 100 points and 32 wins to lift the trophy adds to the desire of the Citizens to erect a statue for David as a tribute.
