Wolves and Mexico striker Raul Jimenez has confirmed Manchester United were and are interested in signing him. United have increasingly linked to the striker two seasons ago when Lukaku’s exit seemed imminent but the deal did not materialize.
The Red Devils have not been able to replace a long term striker since Lukaku left for Inter Milan. However, they targeted Erling Haaland in January 2020 but landed Odion Ighalo on loan instead. Last summer, United brought in free agent Edinson Cavani from PSG temporarily on a one year contract as they seek to look for a long term successor at the club.
Jimenez has impressed in Wolves since arriving, netting 48 and setting 18 in just 108 appearances. He has been one of the lethal strikers in the English league however, he has attracted immense attention from the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid in the past.
The 29-year-old Mexican has confirmed both Juventus and United had contacted him but he remains focused with Wolves. He also added he is happy staying at the club because Wolves treat him as a very important player for them.
