Many do not expect these day to feature in the Guinness book of record for the highest score line in football history.

Reason For the high scoreline between Stade Olympique de L’Emyrne vs AS Adema

October 31, 2002, a match between the two madagascar team was played in a four-team play off championship with AS Adema already declared champion before the kick off.

Meanwhile, Stade Olympique de L’Emyrne was held to a 2-2 draw with DSA Antananarivo in their previous match after wrong referee decision make them concede a goal from a penalty late in the game.

Due to the fact that Stade Olympique de L’Emyrne were the defending champion, they got angry and feel the penalty was uncalled for which deny them of having a chance to defend their title.

So they decided they’ll play their last championship game as a protest to the referee decision as they have nothing to lose anymore.

Immediately the kick-off, Instead of them playing to win the game, they did the opposite side by kicking the ball back to their own net scoring an own goals for the whole 90 minutes of play.

Throughout the match, the opposition team AS Adema stood back and watch them scoring themselves.

Since then, there had never been a team so close to scoring as many goals as that in a professional game.

Punishment For Scoring so much Goals in a single Football Game

It looks awkward seeing your favourite team spend the whole minutes of play scoring an own goal…..

Therefore, after the game, the Madagascar football authorities look into the matter to prevent such events from ever happening again.

The soccer authorities decided to ban Stade Olympique de L’Emyrne’s coach, Zaka Be together with four of his team’s players with the intention of discouraging other teams to repeat the situation.

Zaka Be served the most punishment as he was suspended for 3 years and banned from visiting any soccer stadiums during the period of suspension.

While the other four players were punished same as the coach but just till the end of the season. The players are:

  • Mamisoa Razafindrakoto,
  • Manitranirina Andrianiaina,
  • Nicolas Rakotoarimanana
  • Dominique Rakotonandrasana

With the punishment, No team has ever used such tactics since then even though the match get a place in the Guineas book of records.

Though the record did not end there as it also holds the record for most own goals scored in one game (149 own goals).

On many occasions, we’ve seen one or two own goals in a game but not 149 own goals.

It is believed and very certain that these record will stand for ever in football record.
