The Qatar 2022 World Cup has been tagged one of the most interesting World Cup so far.
Though it was not played during the summer as usual due to the weather at the host country, Qatar.
But has been so interesting as we saw some of the greatest upset in World Cup football so far.
Some unbelievable moments of football occured as the tournament underdogs are upsetting the so called favorites.
Japan defeat the likes of Germany and Spain to top the Group E while Morocco also came out on top between the likes of Belgium and Croatia.
Saudi Arabia was also able to torment Lionel Messi’s Argentina to a 2-1 win in their opening group game.
However, the 2022 World Cup so some big names packing in the group stage with the likes of Belgium, Germany and Uruguay.
The upsets have caused many reactions as we see some coaches being fired/quit their jobs.

- Gerardo Martino (Mexico)
Martino was the first coach to officially quit his job after the 2022 World Cup elimination.
The Argentine led Mexico to their worst ever World Cup in 28years finishing third behind Poland on goal difference.
After last group game against Saudi Arabia, Martino officially resigned as Mexico head coach.
- Roberto Martinez (Belgium)
Martinez also announce he won’t continue with the Red Devils of Belgium after a disappointing World Cup run.
The Red Devils were seen as one of the favorite for the 2022 World Cup after their 2018 World Cup run.
Belgium’s failure to qualify for the Knock-out round at the 2022 World Cup saw Roberto Martinez officially resign from his duty.
- Nana Otto Addo (Ghana)
The German-born Ghanaian manager was appointed in 2021 and qualified Ghana to the 2022 World Cup.
He managed to win one from three and became the first Ghanaian manager to win a match at the FIFA World Cup.
Ghana lost to Uruguay in their bid to revenge the 2010 World Cup which a draw could have seal their qualification.
Though, he had already revealed he would be leaving after the World Cup regardless of the outcome.
However, after the match Otto Addo resigned as Ghana head coach and would focus on his role at Dortmund.
- Paulo Bento (South Korea)
The Portuguese manager led South Korea to the 2022 World Cup and was grouped together with Portugal, Ghana and Uruguay.
Fortunately, he led Korea out of the group with a second place behind his home nation, Portugal.
But was defeated a shocking 4-1 by Brazil in the Round-of-16 and announce he’s leaving his post.
Stating that he wants to take some break which was already decided since September.
- Luis Enrique (Spain)
Enrique stepped down as Spain head coach after a disappointing draw against Morocco.
A goalless draw that end up in penalties and later saw them now out of the World Cup even with the dominance.
At first, Enrique was heavily criticized for his 26-man squad selection dropping experience players of the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Sergio Ramos.
With these heavy criticism, Enrique decided to step down after Spain elimination from the 2022 World Cup.
- Tite (Brazil)
Tite became the sixth coach so far to officially step down or quit his post as head coach after elimination.
After losing to Croatia on penalty kick in the quarter finals, Tite has now decide his time is up with the Seleção.
- Loius Van Gaal (Netherlands)
Van Gaal was appointed head coach of Netherlands in 2021 for a third stint and led them to the 2022 World Cup.
Led the Oranges to the top of the group and defeated USA 3-1 in the Round-of-16 before losing to Argentina on penalties in the Quarter Final.
Following their exit from the 2022 World Cup, the Dutchman resign as Netherlands head coach with 20 games unbeaten.
