Newcastle United Football Club is an English Professional football club founded in December 9, 1892 by the amalgamation of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End.
Since joining the Football League in 1893, Newcastle United has never relegated below the English second tier league and has participated in the English Premier League in all but three seasons.
As of 2021, Newcastle United is owned by a consortium of PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.

Initially, Newcastle United was set up to be a private company limited by shares until 1997, when John Hall bought 72.9% of the club and put the club on stock exchange as a public limited company.
December 1993, a media group NLT bought a 6.3% share of the club and had considered the full takeover.
But was later dropped after concern about football clubs being owned by a media.

These led to the takeover of Newcastle United in 2007 by a businessman Mike Ashley.
Asley bought a combined 41% shares of the club and later amount to 95% in July 2007 forcing other shareholders to sell off.

Since the full takeover, Ashley has reportedly put the club up for sale in three different occasions which was in 2008, 2009 and 2017 respectively but a deal could not be completed.
Newcastle new owners – The Saudi Led Takeover
On 7 October 2021, Mike Ashley’s 14-years era as the owner of Newcastle United came to an end.
These was announced after the Saudi-led consortium officially confirmed the complete acquisitions and become the new owners of Newcastle United.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund led by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, 36-year-old Mohammed Bin Salman holds the largest share of the club with 80% stake.
Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports and Media share a 10% stake each.

A deal reported to be completed on a whooping sum of around £300 million.
While the consortium led new Saudi Arabian owners worth a staggering £320 billion.

Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud is the Crown prince of Saudi Arabia and son to king Salman.

He also reform the administration by allowing women to drive and introduce cinemas.
But has been heavily criticized for restrictions on press freedom particularly on the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Who is Amanda Staveley?
Amanda Louise Staveley is a British executive business woman born on April 11, 1973.

Staveley is married to a British-Iranian businessman, Mehrdad Ghodoussi with a kid.
The 48-year old is known for her connections with wealthy Middle East investors.
And was also involved in Sheikh Monsour’s high-profile purchase of Manchester City back in 2008.
Amanda Staveley’s firm (PCP Capital Partners) was part of the group led by the Saudi’s Public Investment Fund to takeover Newcastle United as she own a 10% stake of the club alongside Reuben Brothers.
